Balkh Description

A landrace Afghan classic, this medium to high yielding plant comes with plenty of surprises. The seeds contain 5 – 6 different genotypes. Plants either have large wide leaves or slim well-defined ones. It grows both tall and short and can be in shades of dark green, red or black. The smell is uniquely dominated by rotten fruit and skunk with highlights of earth and nuts.
The old city of Balkh is called “Mother of cities” and is said to be the home of the mystical “Baba Khu” a Sifu with spiritual power. Legend claims that he could cover the town with smoke when he lit up his chillum.
Sourced by Afghan Selection, it has long been considered the best medicine in Afghanistan. The terpene profile is clean and strong and, as with many Afghan land races, provides an experience that makes it stand apart from other varieties.
